Teaching of Civics

Mr. Tarr moves to amend the amendment by inserting at the end thereof the following:- SECTION_. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary the department of elementary and secondary education shall report on the teaching of civics in secondary or intermediate public school districts. The report shall include but not be limited to number of school districts requiring the completion of a civics section before graduation. Said report shall be submitted to the clerks of the house and senate and the joint committee on education by December 31, 2017.
