An Act addressing barriers to care for mental health
SECTION 1. Chapter 6A of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out section 16P, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, and inserting in place thereof the following 2 sections:- Section 16P. (a) For the purposes of this section, the following words shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly requires otherwise: “Awaiting residential disposition”, waiting not less than 72 hours to be moved from an acute level of psychiatric care to a less intensive or less restrictive, clinically-appropriate level of psychiatric care. “Boarding”, waiting not less than 12 hours to be placed in an appropriate therapeutic setting after: (i) being assessed; (ii) determined to b…
